On March 7, 2017, Ren Xuefeng, secretary of CPC Guangzhou Committee, met the delegation led by Jules A. Hoffmann, the winner of Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, academician of the French Academy of Sciences and honorable director of Sino-French Hoffmann Institute, in Guangzhou.
Ren Xuefeng welcomed the visitors and introduced Guangzhou’s economic and social development to them. Boosting the bidirectional open innovation is a strategic measure of Guangzhou to pool global resources and build an international sci-tech innovation hub, said Ren. Bio-medicine industry, as an important strategic emerging industry of Guangzhou, has attracted a group of high-level, internationalized scientific research teams and renowned enterprises. Guangzhou attaches great importance to the development of Sino-French Hoffmann Institute and will offer great support in infrastructures, talent introduction and equipment imports etc. Ren hoped Prof. Hoffmann to give full play of the leading advantages in immunology, continuously deepen the cooperation with Guangzhou Medical University, and assist Guangzhou in pooling and integrating resources on immunology study and improving the internationalization of scientific research and talent cultivation.
Prof. Hoffmann highly praised Guangzhou’s efforts in focusing on sci-tech innovation, supporting the cutting-edge researches in recent years. He intended to give play his advantage and make joint efforts with the cooperation team to build Sino-French Hoffmann Institute into a world first-class immunologic communication, innovation and fruit transformation base and drive the sci-tech exchanges and cooperation between Guangzhou and the world.
