On March 14, the 2nd session of the 3rd People’s Congress of Nansha District, Guangzhou was unveiled. Ding Hongdu, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Guangzhou Committee and secretary of CPC Nansha District Committee, Yu Mingyong, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Congress, and Timothy Tsun-Ting Fok, chairman of Hong Kong Fok Ying Tung Group, attended the opening ceremony. Members of CPPCC Nansha District attended as nonvoting delegates upon invitation. Nansha will be dedicated to becoming a core portal city in the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao bay region, the reporter learned that at the meeting.
Zeng Jinze, deputy secretary of CPC Nansha District Committee and director of Nansha District, made a governmental work report at the meeting. According to statistics data, in 2016, Nansha achieved regional GDP of 127.876 billion yuan, up 13.8% year on year, ranking the city’s top in growth rate for three consecutive years; industrial output for enterprises above statistics threshold of 305.563 billion yuan, up 8% year on year; fixed asset investment of 81.315 billion yuan, up 31% year on year; normal public budgetary income of 6.918 billion yuan, up 13.03% year on year (excluding the influences of factors like Business Tax to VAT reform and one-off non-tariff income); total retail sales of consumer goods of 19.716 billion yuan, up 14.8% year on year; total imports and exports of 169.43 billion yuan, up 10.7% year on year and contributing 62.7% to Guangzhou’s foreign trade growth; and the added value of the tertiary industry growing 28.6% year on year, contributing 53.2% to Guangzhou’s GDP growth.
The major expected targets of the economic and social development this year are: regional GDP growth will be above 13.6%; local general public budgetary income will rise 13%, fixed assets investment growth above 32%, total retail sales of consumer goods above 10% and total imports and exports 3%. And per capita disposable income of rural and urban people will increase simultaneously with economy.
It is learned that Nansha will speed up the coordination of land use guarantee and other preparatory work to boost the start of the construction of the commercial airport.
