Recently the Internet of Things Name Management Public Service Platform (IoTNMP) has officially passed the national acceptance inspection. As another state-level platform located in Nansha District, this platform is undertaken by the Computer Network Information Center (CNIC), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), which is jointly established by CAS, Guangzhou and Nansha District.
It is predicted by 2025, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology will drive nine sectors, including the Internet of vehicle, smart manufacturing, advanced logistics and mobile payment, to grow the market value by US$1 trillion.
IoT is China’s only state-level platform in the “ID Management” field
On March 10, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) convened the IoTNMP Completion Acceptance Meeting at CAS. At the meeting, the IoTNMP officially passed the national acceptance inspection.
This platform is developed by the CAS CNIC which is jointly established by CAS, Guangzhou and Nansha District. It is compatible with the mainstream name system and is equivalent to and interworking with the international name system. This platform will enable China to get greater say in the international standard field.
The IoT name, generally speaking, is the “identity card” in the IoT field. The IoTNMP is the public service platform of the ID management in the IoT field and provides the unified name management services for all sectors of the IoT field. It is the only state-level platform in the field. The platform is open to the public and provides the name assignment, registration, inquiry and search services, IoT information service and name maintenance service.
At present, the platform has completed construction of five root nodes nationwide, and the three sub-platforms Ecode, Handle and CID systems. The IoT registrations have exceeded 1.1 billion, and the average daily parse counts have exceeded 5 million, and the total parse counts more than 850 million. The platform has set up eight provincial nodes in Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Shanxi, Hebei, Hunan, Gansu, Qinghai and Shandong, and three industrial nodes for the housing and urban construction, printing and tracing sectors. In the future, it will continue construction of provincial nodes in other provinces or industrial nodes.
IoT technology will grow the market value by US$1 trillion
In December 2016, the CNIC successfully incubated the first enterprise - Guangdong CAS Nanhaian Internet of Vehicle Technology Co. Ltd. This company provides the platform application services of vehicle-vehicle interaction, vehicle-road interaction, and man-vehicle interaction with the name addressing technology. Recently CNIC has independently developed the wall bam WiFi, IoT Charging Pile, Smart Parking, IoT Public Transportation, IoT Lighting, Kitchen Face to Face and other Apps which have been put into operation. The Pocket Countryside, LoPo-Iot, Financial Leasing, Internet of Vehicle Town, IoT Research Institute and other projects are under preparation. It is predicted CNIC will set up six IoT related enterprises within three years. According to the estimate of authoritative institutions, by 2025 the IoT technology will drive nine sectors, including the Internet of vehicle, smart manufacturing, advanced logistics, and mobile payment, to grow the market value by US$1 trillion.
IoT is an important part of the strategic emerging industries and has played an important role in boosting the transformation of economic development modes. It has become a commanding height of the new round of economic and technological development of the world. IoTNMP will provide the foundation and supportive conditions for the IoT industrial interaction and interconnection and further development, highlight the head start of China in the IoT infrastructure construction, strive to build Nansha into a world leading information and economic hub and a major engine for the innovation-driven development with international standards to lead development of the global IoT industrial structure.
In the process of construction, the platform has actively carried out application promotion according to the regional characteristics of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao cooperation, and achieved noticeable application demonstration effects in the fields of cross-border commodity tracing, smart government service, and Internet of vehicle. It has deployed more than 3000 access nodes in Nansha for name-based application.
